MIC Talks Music is Back!

Hello!

I hope you've all enjoyed your summer. It's Mitchell here with a quick update on where the blog has been after all this time. There's an assortment of reasons for the hiatus, so I'll do my best to give a solid update to keep you all up to speed.

Recap

We've had one heck of a summer with the blog so far. Artists such as Animal Collective, Soul Glo, Deadharrie, and more have given this small, college-club blog a read. We partnered with two labels to write a charity special to raise money for cancer research. We hit 100 viewers on about half of our posts. There are many things to be proud of over this summer. Unfortunately, the writing came to a bit of a halt in the past few weeks.

Where We've Been

In this segment, I'll let you know all the factors that went into the hiatus. Firstly, my laptop need repairs. Having to write from my phone would have been near-impossible with formatting issues, photo insertion, all that boring writer stuff. However, over that time, I went into a little brainstorming phase. I had also been on a short vacation where I continued this brainstorming session. I decided, even after getting my laptop back, that I would hold off on new blog posts at least until I got an announcement out. Well today is that day! Keep reading below to find out more about the new and improved "MIC Talks Music."

NEW Segments!

That's right! Rather than doing a New Music Roundup every week, there will be an assortment of new segments that will give the blog a little bit more variety while also offering some intel on the local scene, reviews on the classics, and ultimately more music for you to check out. Let's take a look at these segments:

New Music Roundup - The usual weekly posts that this blog is known for will still be around. However, these will now be monthly posts. This allows me to give you the very best of this year's new music while also being able to write more in-depth descriptions to let you find the music that best suits your taste.

Mitch-Lists - My namesake lists will also make a re-appearance. Tune in during the month of December for my series of year-end lists including best albums, best songs, best EPs, and many more!

Classic Reviews - Tune in for some reviews of classic albums that you simply can't go your whole life without listening to at least once. These occasional posts will be my first go at writing in-depth reviews so I hope you enjoy my amateur journalism haha!

Local Scene Showcase - I'll be taking a look at some of BG's best up and coming musicians in this new segment, including reviews of local music, recaps of our monthly open mics, and the occasional interview. Stay tuned and maybe you'll see a classmate pop up on the blog.

Music Industry Club Updates - Want to find out about upcoming MIC events? Look out for occasional mini-posts to find out what we've got going on!

More? - Have any ideas of what else you want to see? Not everything is set in stone yet, these are just a few ideas that I've decided to do. There should be more coming and I'm fully open to requests. Let me know on social media or in the comments.

Conclusion

Thank you all for your patience. With school starting in less than two weeks, I couldn't be more excited to get back into the swing of things with you all. Make sure to share this with your friends to let them know that we're back in business. Expect a post in the near-future! Contact info is down below!
