The Music Industry Club is incredibly excited to introduce to you MIC Talks Music, a music blog showcasing the hottest new drops, exciting local acts, and recommendations that you just need to hear.


Hey everyone! I'm Mitchell Hurley and I'm a media production major entering my second year at BGSU. I absolutely love all kinds of music, especially hip hop and rock and roll, but you'll see I dabble in a bit of everything. I have always dreamed of running a blog where I can expose people to new music and also discuss some of my favorite albums. If you're looking for some new playlists, albums, artists, or just a new favorite song, I'm hoping that this blog will be the exact thing you need. No matter the genre, I've got you covered on all your favorites. I hope you'll come along to enjoy the ever-expanding world of music with me!

A little bit more about me:

I've seen 150+ acts live in concert ranging from Vampire Weekend to Megan Thee Stallion to Black Midi to Beach House to... well you get the point.

I am an avid music listener and CD collector. I have about 200 CDs to my name and some of my favorites include To Be Kind by Swans, In Rainbows by Radiohead, and Pink Moon by Nick Drake.

I am in the music industry minor and am looking to pursue studio and radio work after college.

I'm an aspiring poet and songwriter with little playing experience, but I hope to one day hone in on my skills and play some music for you all.

Hello! I hope you've all enjoyed your summer. It's Mitchell here with a quick update on where the blog has been after all this time. There's an assortment of reasons for the hiatus, so I'll do my best to give a solid update to keep you all up to speed. Recap We've had one heck of a summer with the blog so far. Artists such as Animal Collective, Soul Glo, Deadharrie, and more have given this small, college-club blog a read. We partnered with two labels to write a charity special to raise money for cancer research. We hit 100 viewers on about half of our posts. There are many things to be proud of over this summer.
